Indeed.

But look at the other side: Sneijder, the man most responsible for Inter
getting past Chelsea and Barcelona and running the counters that beat us
in the Final. He lives up to billing. Mueller, lives up to even more
than the promise shown in the CL. Schweinsteiger, unbelievable,
underperforming for years after 2006 and finally getting it together
this season, is also even better in the WC than in the CL. Landon
Donovan, billed up to the Moon and put under fantastic pressure, even
though the US weren't that good and only got as far as their abilities,
stood up to the pressure and provided many crucial moments for his side.
Robben, as he recovers from injury, already crucial to the win over
Brasil and the first and decisive goal in the Achtelfinale. David
Villa, with the rest of his side not really living up to the pressure,
scoring all those decisive goals for his side (of course we still have
so see about it this afternoon).

So there are plenty of superstars performing. Just don't listen to the
bias provided by corporate advertising, which is almost always
counterfactual in just about anything.

You forgot Felipe Melo. Any Juve supporter would have expected him to play
exactly as he played against the Dutch, the only bit of surprise really was
the assist ... just for a moment all the Juventini of the world hoped he
could have been subbed just after that, so that Juventus' management could
have been able to sell him, at a loss surely, but sell him they would have
.... Pantaleo Corvino is such a legend ...

Yes indeed I recalled that commentary from you and Daniele during the
second half yesterday :-)

I was really happy, mainly because of the likes of Kaka _expecting_ the
referee to give him some special treats. Man, he's like C-Ron for me
(and I say that as a medium-strong Portugal fan). I do like Lucio, and
I did notice that he went out like a man. He also tried to calm the
younger ones down throughout the match, and had a good chance at the
equaliser. I would have cheered him had he got it.

European leagues are overrated.

Those 4 guys were all sent packing by teams 100% based on European leagues.
