I don't think it was the players who choked, it was the coach.
Trochowski's selection flew in the face of the aggressive, attacking
approach adopted in the previous games. Schweinsteiger sat too deep
because Lowe was afraid of a counter to their counter attack when there
was no need. Spain's midfield is one paced.

That's a good point. I was also wondering during the match on
Trochowski's selection. Cacau would have done better than Trochowski,
but was injured. Low also seemed to have lost confidence in Marin.
Anyway, I base my "choking" judgment on the fact that Germany's
midfielders missed more than a few passes when they weren't being
pressed. I find it hard to explain otherwise.
