Let us wait until Sunday to decide.

Clearyl Spain.

France 1998 is overrated. Until the final every match was a borefest
and in the final they made the German tactics: Goal(s) after a
standard and then counterattacking a shocked Brazilian team.

I favor this Spain team even if they don't win on Sunday because of a
superior attack.

Zizou, Vieira, Thuram (of 98-2000) and Lizarazu were better than their
current counterparts though.

Here is my scientific, stats-based perspective. I found myself rooting
for and against both sides at various times during the '98 and '10
tournaments. I didn't feel as confident about France as I did Spain
when I was rooting for them, and never felt as frustrated by the
French defense as I do about the Spanish defense when rooting for the
team playing against them.

So Spain. But let's wait 'til Sunday.

And what if 2002-2004 Brazil had been first-time World Cup and Copa
America winners as opposed to an historical dynamo that never meets
the globe's lofty expectations and was playing a dissatisfying style?
Was that team (unlike Spain it never lost; unlike France it was never
taken to PKs) really that much inferior to these?
