A large percentage of goals in modern football come from crosses.
The only England player who seemed to provide any was Steven Gerrard,
who was playing out of his normal position. I think one of the biggest
mistakes by Capello was not bringing Walcott, an absolute disgrace in
fact. Lennon almost never got anywhere near the byline in his games
and was justly omitted today. Cole and Johnson didn't do much either.
It really wasn't clear how England expected to score many goals.

The failure to use Carrick is equally inexcusable.

As someone suggested in another thread, Lippi and Domenech are
available!

Rooney does a lot more than run towards goal and he proved it again
today. It's unfortunate that he wasn't 100% but I still think he is
more important to the team than any other striker. As for Capello, the
only thing I would have done different is play with only one striker
to gain more consistency in midfield.

Rooney was not one of the 20 best forwards in the WC to date. Not
even close. Sometimes I think Ronaldo made him a great player.
