The argentine ref let a lot go, and yet tempers did not really flare. I felt a bit sorry for Cristiano Ronaldo as I thought he was not getting the calls soley due to his reputation as a diver and whiner. Several looked like real fouls to me. They did not show a good view of the alleged elbow to Capdevila's face. From what I saw it was not ultra-malicious. Portugal did quite well and had some decent chances, but Spain are a bit better. Coentrao possibly the best left back in the tournament so far.

I commented on that in an earlier post. I'm glad to see somebody else agrees.

Agreed. He should have gotten a few more calls. I suspect it points to the near impossibility for one central ref to make the necessary calls. There has got to be a just mid-point between calling only the act of fouling and calling all reactions to supposed fouling. > > They did not show a good view of the alleged elbow to Capdevila's > face. From what I saw it was not ultra-malicious. doesn't take much for an elbow to the face to be painful. > > Portugal did quite well and had some decent chances, but Spain are a > bit better.
