Quarterfinals, 1st legs (away goals count):

Flamengo (Rio-BRA) 2-3 Universidad de Chile (Santiago-CHL)
[Adriano 39', Juan 89' - Mauricio Victorino 5', Rafael Olarra 24',
Álvaro Fernández 48']
Flamengo's defense failed to deal with a low cross and
Victorino slotted in the rebound. A long distance free kick
flew high over Flamengo's box, Bruno went for the ball with
his back to two Chilean players and Olarra beat him to it with
a header to make it 0-2. An Adriano header on a Kléberson
cross gave Flamengo hope, as well as the second yellow for
Iturra, but early in the second half Fernández beat the
defense to a low cross and touched past Bruno. Juan tried
his luck from distance near the end and a deflection helped
his shot past Pinto to keep Fla dreaming.
Second leg on May 20.

Cruzeiro (Belo Horizonte-BRA) 0-2 São Paulo FC (BRA)
[Dagoberto 24', Hernanes 66']
Fernandão made his debut for São Paulo and made a huge
impact. He received from Marlos and lobbed over the defence
and back to Marlos, who crossed for Dagoberto to complete.
Then a wonderful backheel by Fernandão set up Hernanes for
the 0-2, making the May 19 home leg almost a formality.
