Of course, the absolutely #1 choice is for Fergie to stay until he can no
longer walk the touchline to the dugout. If this rumour that he's leaving
after one more year carries on growing then we could be in for another lame
duck season like the last time we thought he was going.

Life after SAF will be traumatic. We might not challenge for a year or two
even if we bring in the right man.

In fact, life after Fergie is a thoroughly depressing thought. I can handle
not challenging, not winning trophies, I had that for years supporting
United, but for so long Manchester United and SAF have been exactly the same
thing. Having to readjust the way you think about the club you've supported
all your life will not be an easy task at all.

So do I but this ain't a personality contest. Being liked is
overrated anyway.

So you agree with me on this.

You got the Big Eyes thing then? No mention of Big Eck though? A
Fergie understudy, if ever there was one and always done a job
wherever he's been.

I think O'Neill has been defensive because of what he has had to work
with, namely nothing. Everywhere he has been he has had to fix
things. Normally you start by trying to concede fewer goals then
taking it from there. Nothing needs fixing at United. It could be
that circumstances have dictated how he has worked in the past and
given United are different, his approach could be different.

I would prefer the guy's CV to come before his passport.

So basically Red, we agree on the things we don't disagree on. And on
those things we disagree on, we don't agree. So if we could agree
with what we disagree on, we wouldn't have any disagreements. Do you
agree?

Sorry, who or what is Big Eck?

Just googled it.

The sad fact is that there isn't a single person in the world, no fantasy
signing, that I could get remotely excited about after SAF. It's going to be
a dark, dark day.

Hey thickarse "Eck" is a term given to folk with the name of Alex. The
guy is referring to Alex McCleish, a good friend of Ferguson.
