Attendance : 54,723
Assist : Vucinic

BOLOGNA 2 (Adailton 27 fk, Di Vaio 65)
UDINESE 1 (Di Natale 47)

Attendance : 15,000
Assists : Zalayeta (won fk), Isla, Di Vaio (won pen)

FIORENTINA 2 (Vargas 26, Gilardino 89)
ATALANTA 0

Vargas, the best left winger in the World, gathered a Jovetic pass, ran
20 yards from the centre circle then unleashed an absolute rocket of a
left foot shot which beat Consigli all ends up. Valdes was sent off for a
late foul on Jorgensen and his coach quickly joined him for taking his
protests too far. Jorgensen got an inadvertent assist off the ref, who
let play continue, Jorgensen headed for the comfort of the left flank,
swung in a cross, Gilardino shanked his effort, a defender misjudged the
bounce and Gilardino poked over Consigli as he dived at his feet.

Attendance : 21,000

Assists : Jovetic, Jorgensen

GENOA 2 (Palacio 14, Palladino 66)
PARMA 2 (Biabiany 36, Biabiany 59)

Palacio somehow managed to push away Lucarelli, who towers above him, to
chase down Criscito's longball and shoot past Mirante. With his back to
play Galloppa flicked on a goal-kick, spun away from his marker onto a
backheel return pass, threaded a ball between two defenders and Biabiany
fired between Amelia's legs. Criscito, under pressure from Lanzafame,
inadvertently flicked on a pass and Biabiany tapped in his second.
Milanetto attempted to play a one-two with Floccari on the edge of the
Parma penalty area but Palladino intervened and caught Mirante by
surprise with a quick left foot drive.

Attendance : 26,000
Assists : Criscito, Galloppa, n/a, Floccari

LIVORNO 0
CHIEVO 2 (Rigoni 12, Bentivoglio 66)

Rigoni's bullet header gave Chievo the lead. Pellisier intercepted a poor
clearance, checked inside a defender and laid on a second for Bentivoglio.

Attendance : 9,000
Red Card : Lucarelli 25 (Livorno)
Assists : Abbruscato, Pellisier

NAPOLI 3 (Quagliarella 54, Maggio 72, Quagliarella 88)
BARI 2 (Barreto 49, Ranocchia 62)

Bonucci launched a monstrous longball downfield, Barreto beat Cannavaro
for pace, pulled the ball down and lobbed over De Sanctis, brilliant
goal. Quagliarella headed in Gargano's cross to equalise. De Sanctis made
a fantastic point blank save from Baretto but Bari's giant centre back
headed in the rebound. Bari lost Parisi
to a ludicrous yellow card. Maggio took advantage of the hole in Bari's
defence to head in the equaliser from Quagliarella's cross. Quagliarella
made a run off the shoulder of a Bari defender, onto Lavezzi's pass and
steered the ball inside the left post. Ranocchia saw red for a late foul
on Lavezzi.

Attendance : 35,000
Red Card : Parisi 65 (Bari), Ranocchia 92 (Bari)
Assists : Bonucci, Gargano, n/a, Quagliarella, Lavezzi

PALERMO 2 (Budan 52, Kjaer 65)
CAGLIARI 1 (Matri 24)

Cossu flicked a ball between two defenders and Matri showed great
composure to lob over Sirigu as he dived at his feet. Budan turned onto a
Balzaretti pass, dribbled in and around three players before hammering a
right foot shot into the net, fabulous goal. Kjaer broke his duck for the
season when he headed in a corner.

Attendance : 18,963
Assists : Cossu, Balzaretti, Simplicio (ck)

SIENA 3 (Calaio 51, Terzi 56, Paolucci 62)
CATANIA 2 (Martinez 14, Martinez 55)

Mascara swung a free kick into the box, Martinez leapt in the air and met
the ball with a spectacular flick volley. Calaio scrambled in the
equaliser. Martinez headed Catania back in the lead from Bellusci's
fantastic cross. Terzi headed in the equaliser from another outstanding
delivery. Maccarone flashed a centre across goal which was impossible to
defend, Capuano managed to avoid scoring an own goal but Paolucci was
lurking at the back post and hooked the ball inside the left post.

Attendance : 9,000
Assists : Mascara (fk), Paolucci, Bellusci, Del Grosso (fk), Maccarone

5 December 2009

MILAN 3 (Borriello 2, Seedorf 21, Pato 23)
SAMPDORIA 0

Milan made short work of a Sampdoria side in freefall. Antonini
intercepted a Cassano pass and surged forward before passing to
Ronaldinho and Borriello beat Pato to head in his cross at the back post.
Milan's second was almost carbon copy. Seedorf spread the play out to
Ronaldinho, ran into the box onto the Brazilian's centre and thumped a
left foot shot into the top corner. Borriello setup Pato for the third,
the Brazilian scored at the second attempt after Castelazzi saved his
initial effort.

It should come as no surprise to learn that Ronaldinho is now Serie A
assist leader with somewhere in the region of 8 assists. If he started to
score goals from open play Milan really would have a chance of winning
the scudetto.

Attendance : 50,000
Assists : Ronaldinho, Ronaldinho

JUVENTUS 2 (Melo 20, Marchisio 58)
INTER 1 (Eto'o 28)

Chiellini made poor contact with a Diego free kick, Del Piero miscued a
volley, the ball bounced off his shin, hit Melo's knee and wrong footed
Julio Cesar in the Inter goal. Mourinho was dismissed for the second time
this season for protesting over the award of the free kick. Muntari
should have been sent off for going through the back of Caceres then
pulling his hair. Eto'o took advantage of appalling marking to head in
Stankovic's cross. Samuel was booked for kicking Del Piero and lucky not
get a second yellow when he wrestled Chiellini to the ground. Marchisio,
the new Marco Tardelli, sealed his place in Lippi's Italy squad with a
magnificent goal. Julio Cesar spilled an effort from Sissoko, Marchisio
touched the ball from his left foot onto his right as Samuel slid in with
a tackle, he quickly moved it back onto his left, taking it away from
Lucio before lifting over Julio Cesar. Del Piero dived under a challenge
from Samuel, Milito tried to con the ref into awarding a penalty, Melo
elbowed Balotelli in the chest so he clutched his face as he fell,
earning Melo a red and himself a yellow for simulation. A brawl broke out
in which Motta and Buffon manhandled each other, while this was going on
Chivu walked upto Sissoko and pushed his head into his face, Sissoko
dived, held his face and rolled around. Pathetic.

A typically ill tempered game between this two sides. There should have
been at least 4 more red cards - for Samuel, Buffon, Motta and Muntari.

Attendance : 25,530
Red Cards : Mourinho 21 (Inter), Melo 87 (Juventus)
Assists : Del Piero, Stankovic, n/a

When you called Sissoko pathetic where you refering to the whole brawl
or to Sissoko's theatrics? Surely you should call out Baloteli too
then. How's Balotelli viewed in Italy by the way? Both in terms of
celebrity/personality and his talent. He's going to the World Cup?

Motta was fighting Buffon? I know appearances are nto everything, but
man Buffon is one thug looking dude, he looks like he'd bring the rain
and thunder.

Get the sense that this game has more heat than Inter-Milan. In fact
I find Inter-Milan quite tame or buddy-buddy- for a rivalry.

I think it hit Lucio's knee, meaning that it should be a Del Piero goal
according to the standard classification, and a Lucio own-goal according to
your stricter interpretation. Melo had nothing to do with it.

Not a great night for a neutral observer. It was quite a miracle that three
goals came out of this wrestling match. Juve won and made things a bit
tighter at the top, but to say the truth there's not much to be happy about,
other than Marchisio's brilliant goal. Most of the time the Virgins gave the
impression that they would come closer to scoring if they had really wanted
to. Juve played like the typical underdog in derby matches, turning to
intensity and fighting spirit rather than skill. If they want to have a
chance of challenging for the scudetto, they need to play with the same
intensity against the Cagliaris and Palermos as well.

Oh, and having Trezeguet and Iaquinta back would help too.

From the first replay it looked like Lucio got the final touch and on
Saturday I had him listed as the scorer but from another replay from
Rai on Sunday the ball came off Del Piero first then Melo.

He's played for the U21s. He's miles better than anyone Ghana can line
up in attack.
