Or maybe not. ;) In fact, if you compare this ranking with Gazzetta's Fantasy Scout sub-ranking (1. Pato, 2. Balotelli, etc.), the distance is 35.11. But if you run the same computation for the Fantasy Scout actual ranking (i.e. points scored so far, not predicted) [1], the distance is 34.48. At least Daniele's formula doesn't screw up things. And of course it would have a far better outcome if feed with more data, e.g. from club football (e.g. Balotelli is a 0-pointer in Fanatasy Scout, but is a 46 match played + 15 goals scored in Serie A, 11+2 in UCL) and/or youth international football (Balotelli in Italy U-21: 14 caps + 6 goals). [1] Here it is: 1 Walcott 2 Alexandre Pato 3 Marin 4 Santon 5 Sissoko 6 Zuculini 7 Salvio 8 Insua 9 Krkic 10 Anyone else -- Cheers milivella

From that list, I'd pick Alexandre Pato and Neymar as likely stars of the future; and one they missed, Freddy Adu.

I'd be interested in hearing what RSS-ers think of their longer-term prospects on the basis of observation. FWIW, I'm not bullish on Altidore as a world class player, though he will have a long career as a goal scorer for the USMT. Eden Hazard sounds too good to be true, and Salvio sounds like one of Benny's midgets.

On the basis of what I have seen, having only watched critically maybe a third of the list, I first agree with Mark V about Altidore. I like to make comparisons to existing players, and to me he resembles a young Heskey. He will be a solid classic center forward that will always disappoint by not scoring. Of the top six, I like Balotelli the best, think Drogba with a harder shot and more pace. Not as good in the air yet. Pato, Jovetic and Krkic are all going to be world class players. I like Jovetic here, he's not as flashy as they other two but possess a great football IQ. My one major disagreement is Walcott. He has all the pace in the world but has been horrid this year since his return, granted he's rusty. But he can't cross the ball so save his life, and that's what he has to do, run at people, open up the defense, and look for the open man. He can't do it. Think Aaron Lennon who has gotten much better at making an inspired pass this year. There might be hope but I don't think so. I do like Ramsey but he is, I think a little too slow, but has a thunderous shot. I think he is English, I'm not sure, if he is he looks like the best bet as the next Gerrard/Lampard. chris m velvet underground allstars-still, barely top of the EPL Fantasy table
