Does everyone agree or do you think some of the big Italian or Spanish
clubs can claim that title?

All players seem to say that when they move to another club, it's nothing
new

Biggest? The phrase has no meaning. Biggest stadium? Biggest pitch?
Biggest squad? Biggest debt? Joe's comment was made for the fans
of his new club, which is understandable, but he also added stuff about
how nice it was to play under an English boss again, a dig at the Chelsea
manager who gave him so few starts recently, and the club which refused to
meet his wage demands, preferring to let him go on a free. Spurs also
thought that, as a player who has lots to prove, he was over valuing
his appeal.

Unless L'pool do something very special over the the remainder of Joe
Coles career in the next 4 or 5 seasons we can guess that after he has
hung up his boots and looks at his collection of 3 ? EPL medals,
FA Cup winners medals and other bits and pieces, all won at his last
club, he will have a pretty clear idea about which was the " biggest"
club he ever played for.

The term is meaningless jargon, a comfortable refuge for those who
pine for the distant good old days. Like High Street shops, the only
thing which is of any real importance to football clubs is how good
were they last year and, far more vital, how good will they be this
year.
