That's a thing of the past. These days clubs need to spend money, lots of it, to stay competitive. All the top clubs pay big wages to attract players and keep them and also spend big on the transfer market. There are no exceptions.

While it's the standard, there are exceptions. Sampdoria made the CL this year by beating Palermo to the final 4th spot, while Juve spent much more than them. Isn't that an exception?

They haven't won anything, nor do they look like winning anything. And the only reason they're competitive is because the Serie A clubs are not as big spending as those in other countries these days. > > All the top clubs pay big wages to attract > > players and keep them and also spend big on the transfer market. No, it's not really. Look at the title of the thread.

A team like Verona doesn't happen often, but it can still happen. > > All the top clubs pay big wages to attract > > players and keep them and also spend big on the transfer market. Look at the title of the thread. I think nothing has changed from the Verona days and it can still happen. Milan, Inter and Juve are always the BIG spenders. |
