From: RickyBobby on 11 Jun 2010 12:59 There is good reason that everybody is not nuts about football. This is a good example. The officiating is no better than the play. One time they call offside and the next time they do not bother to call it. Not exactly a riveting game.

Everyone is making an exceptional big deal about this game as its the first ever world cup to be held on African soil and probably the last as far as sub Saharan Africa goes. Nice opening goal though but both sides feeble.

That is almost like a score. It is nice that the event is taking place in South Africa. That adds a bit of flavor. I think next time they should expand it to 64 teams. 32 is not very many when there are over 200 nations that play football. If it it reputed to be the World's game then it should be more inclusive. I think it was a slightly better game when they used the 20th Century ball with the thirty-two panels. It seems like it had more seams to catch the wind and the skilled players could do more with it. This modern ball seems to be too slick. They sailed a lot of kicks high of the goal and it could not all have been nerves. But if they changed the construction of the ball it must have been for a good reason.
