Get everyone to select which two teams from each pool will qualify for the
next round. One point per correct team. Then one point for the winner of
each knockout game. Most people will probably drop out after the first
round, but so what? Those in the running will keep putting their tips in
if their is some prize money at stake.

Just do it NCAA tournament-style, have everyone fill out a bracket for
the knockout stage (the group stage picks will be implicit), choose
whatever scoring system you like.

Seems like the easiest way to go.

Or you could do something like the Thomas Esamie Tipping competition.

These are all great ideas. I was thinking of something along the lines
of what Luiz/Jim said. And I think the Soccernet predictor will
probably work best. I can create/administer the league easily and
people are already familiar with March Madness brackets.

I like Jesus and Andrea's ideas too, but we might have to find a more
football-savvy group for that. I wonder who that could be...
