I love the world cup....I think the world cup will generate a lot of
buzz this year in the usa....

Of course it ends there though. I couldn't care less about all the
different euro leagues and how they play and their affiliations or
whatnot, and 99.9% of americans don't either.....

but once every 4 years, soccer is really really cool.....

Probably about 80% of Americans, though it is a majority.

like I said earlier, Im super jacked about the world cup this year,
and find soccer interesting. I'm the type of guy to youtube
maradona's second goal against england in 1986 like 100 times......

but there is *no way* 20% of americans care anything about the
different euro leagues. Hell I'm not even sure that 20% of
americans(even if limited to semi sports fans) would even know the
names of 2-3 of the league teams........maybe 10% would know what
manchester united is. But that's as far as their knowledge or
interest would go......

and again, I *like* soccer....

You wrote that 99.9% couldn't care less, which is obviously wrong. The
actual figure may be 80-85%... it's hard to say, really. Assuming that
we're talking about percentage of sports fans, I say 80% is about right.

well perhaps...hyperbole and all....my point was that "almost all"
sports fans could care less.....

 The
> actual figure may be 80-85%... it's hard to say, really.  Assuming that

byran, there are sports that 80-85% of sports fans could care less
about that are covered extensively here. For example I don't follow
nascar, but I know who all the main drivers are.

I don't follow the nhl either(and most americans don't), but I know
most of the "stars"......

if 20% of american sporting fans had any interest in euro league
soccer, that would be reflected by us americans being able to watch
games. Now I'm sure there are some cable satellite packages(depending
on what you buy and where you live) where watching euro league soccer
is a possibility, but I've had a number of different packages/plans/
satellites in a number of different areas and have never seen any euro
league soccer coverage......

when a person like me is *excited* about the world cup(most people
aren't) only knows the name of ONE(wait two...real madrid is another
euro team right?) teams, and doesn't know who any of the top stars
play for, what does that tell you about the people do aren't excited
about the world cup?

It's cool that you like soccer and know all about the premiere league
or whatever it is. But almost nobody else in the US does.....thats
why it's not shown on tv to any significant degree....(im sure it's on
channel 346 on some satellites/direct tv packages but you know what I
mean)......
