It's a conspiracy alright.

The world hates the USA, and the refs subconsciously blow the whistle
against them, at every half chance they get.

The refs will never say they're biased because they do it subconsciously.

Congratulations on a well deserved advancement, despite getting on teh
wrong side of some horrible ref decisions the USA rode it out and got
their just reward.
