Dont forget that their three best players were out injured, as well as a starting centerback and two important backups. They were positively crippled. They probably wouldn't have beaten Barca regardless, but they would've put on a much better show.

Barca too were without Ibra (why was that BTW ?), Puyol and Pique, and Iniesta only came in in the last 15 minutes or so. So I'd say it evens out. Anyway, so much for Messi not showing up against EPL teams I guess.

True, but Barca's defense was suspect with Pique and Puyol out, and Abidal just back from injury, and Barca also had Ibra out injured, and Iniesta only on the bench , just back from injury.

As I said in my post, I dont think they would've beaten Barca even if both teams were fully fit. My point is that they would've put on a much better show, in response to Enzo's point that "there is something seriously lacking in the team".

Their perennial coming up short indicate they lack a gear or two. The glaring hole is the absence of scrappiness. They can do well adding a hacker like Van Bommel.
