It's a fictional comic. Reading between the lines it's probably true, although I fail to see how paying someone �200k a week is any more wrong than paying someone �160k (Robinho/Tevez/Adebayor). What IS wrong is that it's put those other "superstar" names out of joint, most worryingly Tevez. The stupid money is market rate plus a hefty premium because a) we're loaded and b) we're not famous enough for people to come without the promise of stupid amounts of money. BTW Toure has quite a lot more to his game than a typical holding player. Think Vieira back when he could still run about a lot. If we could go back to the late 90s and sign Vieira from then I'm sure you'd agree he was worth being at the top of the pay scale, no? -- +mrcakey |
