From: Mark V. on 6 Jan 2010 11:58 He joins US striker Eddie Johnson at Aris FC who is there on loan from Fulham. I can't believe that Hull City would have been interested in a diminutive player who usually couldn't even find the BENCH for the bottom-dwellers of the Portuguese league. While Aris is probably a "better" choice for Adu, I'm skeptical that given their standing (in contention for a Europa League spot) he'll see much time. Freddy Adu ends Hull talk by signing Aris deal By Soccernet staff January 6, 2010 Benfica midfielder Freddy Adu has revealed he has signed an 18-month loan deal with Aris, ending speculation he could complete a move to Hull. Freddy Adu has agreed a loan switch to Aris FC Adu, 20, wrote on his Twitter feed this week to say he was choosing between offers from Aris and Hull but later said his preference was to secure regular first-team football to aid his development, and he has now sealed a deal to the Greek club. The USA international wrote on Twitter: "Alright guys done deal. Signed an 18-month loan deal with Aris FC. A lot of thought and research went into this. Thanks for the support." A statement on the club's website read: "Aris FC announces the agreement with the American soccer player Freddy Adu from Benfica on a loan until [June 2011 with] an option [to] buy."

Otherwise, we'll be seeing him in a house on a reality show with Jessica Simpson in about 12 years time, or in a celebrity boxing match vs. Danny Partridge.

It's not looking too good for Altidore either. Horrible first touch, does a lot of running and little else. In recent years it's the American players that didn't arrive in Europe with a great deal of hype, Dempsey and Bradley, that have had the most success. -- http://soccer-europe.com Rss feed : http://soccer-europe.com/RSS/News.xml

Speaking of downward spirals, I see that Aris is managed by Hector Cuper. Given Belenenses's record this year I think we should consider the possibility that their (now fired) manager was not a genius.
