I'll go for W. Germany-Italy, thanks, for pure drama. I don't
agree that no one could play defense in the extra time. It simply was
a better era for soccer. I have watched that match many times--own the
tape.

....namely here (i.e. I mentioned SMiG). I didn't know about that
incident until years after. But I won't forget the extra time. Of
course when you lose your lead to plays like that (Hrubesch to Fischer
and bicycle it in) you might come up with excuses. A lot of "obvious
fouls" are actually 50-50 situations. I seriously doubt it was that
clear. I haven't seen the replay of the whole extra time in a while but
recently did see highlights again. You'll have to explain the fouls to
me.

I have never heard such nonsene. Not a patch on the Tranmere Rover v
Hartlepool United on 08.09.1962. Rovers won 6-1!
