The greatest match of all time was Italy-Brazil 1982. I'll go for W. Germany-Italy, thanks, for pure drama. I don't agree that no one could play defense in the extra time. It simply was a better era for soccer. I have watched that match many times--own the tape. DK

How that match could make you root for Germany is beyond me. : France were clearly the better team and Schumacher nearly killed : (literally) a French player and escaped with no foul when he should : have been red-carded and a penalty awarded. Of course when you lose your lead to plays like that (Hrubesch to Fischer and bicycle it in) you might come up with excuses. A lot of "obvious fouls" are actually 50-50 situations. I seriously doubt it was that clear. I haven't seen the replay of the whole extra time in a while but recently did see highlights again. You'll have to explain the fouls to me. -- ciao, Bruce drift wave turbulence: http://www.rzg.mpg.de/~bds/
