Daniele De Rossi? :)

No. Tiago (Juventus) is closer to Daniele's heart than De Rossi
(Roma)! ;)

(and none of these players is 1.79 m!)

Wikipedia lists Marchisio as 1.80. Close enough, and he's obviously very
close to my heart. But he's really nothing like the three Spaniards.

But he is the one! According to FM database, his distance from...
....Busquets is 118 (main difference: Marchisio fitter as RM)
....Xabi Alonso is 117 (Marchisio more versatile)
....Xavi is 141 (Xavi fitter as free role)

I too fail to see great similarities. Of course Marchisio is a central
midfielder with good technique (passing) and physically strong, but
surely there are players more similar to the Spanish trio?!

We could ask ourselves "what are the greatest differences between
Marchisio and each of the three Spaniards?" (let's see the list of
parameters in the original post) and then check the values in the FM
database.
