From: Darth Simian on 30 Aug 2009 16:13 Gotcha. You keep on calling forth those ancient Egyptian demons in your basement temple Larry. Maybe one day your hair will grow back. Sir Lawrence Jenkins Orange Order Masonic Lodge No 70 http://www.masonictravels.com/2007/03/sir-lawrence-jenkins-no-70.html Mumbai (Bombay), India Grand Lodge of India Regional Grand Lodge of Western India On March 3, 2007 I had the pleasure of visiting Sir Lawrence Jenkins Lodge No. 70; The nights scheduled event, a Raising, my first one in India! Before I start I would like to mention that the WM used the International Traveling Gavel for this meeting and the floor work and ritual was performed fantastically! The floor work particularly in regards to the W's and the opening and closing of the VSL was performed with beautiful precision and a formality of which I had never previously seen but thoroughly enjoyed! Considering this was only the second meeting since installation of Officers the performance was spectacular to say the least. I mentioned the ritual work was also done very well and I had to chuckle to myself as I sat next the RWBro Gimi (RGL WI Secy and Lodge Secy) who was quietly wording every single officers part, without the benefit of an open ritual book! I'm sure he knows every single word in the book and could probably quote you the page if you requested it! The lodge had several unique features such as the JW, SW and wm had an incrementing number of steps to their respective positions, which I had never previously noted in any lodge before. The TB's were also held in a spinning device that had flaps that would cover the TBs not being used. I think it is a really great and novel idea! I also was intrigued by some of the differences in the work itself. The HOB in the FPoF was specifically humorous to me, in that the "o" part of HOB is taken quite literally! The FRS, SRS and so on for the degrees is also different in that they don't alternate between the first two. Also the "special" advancing towards the E is done considerably different. The same amount of steps, but slightly more complex angles. The other part which I thought was wonderful was the description of the S of D (OLOG,ITNHFTWS is what I'm talking about), they actually don't use that, but go on to describe several different constitutions methods for the S of D. Because the Indian ritual is a combination of the English, Scottish and Irish constitutions it really has so much information because it tries to present the culmination of all the them. I find myself a little annoyed by the fact that as a public website I cannot describe properly and openly the amazing differences that I've enjoyed in the craft. I do believe that this will indeed inspire me to write some private publications for masonic eyes only. I'm sure it is equally frustrating reading my semi-cryptic ramblings also and for that I apologise. After the Lodge was closed we went down stairs to a wonderful festive board of which I had the honour of sitting to the left of the WM (the newly raised MM to the right) and some of the past masters who loaded me up with fabulous masonic trivia. Also I learned some amazing information about the Parsee religion which I was just in awe hearing about! Check out this website for more information about our conversations of the evening! I would very much like to express my deepest thanks to all the Brethren from Sir Lawrence Jenkins Lodge and specifically to RWBro Gimi for helping me with the logistics of being in a new city! Finally, I leave you with one quote from the opening lines of the WMs festive board speech... "From the moment you're born you continue to learn and think, the only time that stops is the moment you are about to give a speech!" -- Masonry, like all the Religions, all the Mysteries, Hermeticism and Alchemy, conceals its secrets from all except the Adepts and Sages, or the Elect, and uses false explanations and misinterpretations of its symbols to mislead those who deserve only to be misled ... The Blue Degrees are but the outer court or portico of the Temple. Part of the symbols are displayed there to the Initiate, but he is intentionally misled by false interpretations. It is not intended that he shall understand them; but it is intended that he shall imagine he understands them. Their true explication is reserved for the Adepts, the Princes of Masonry.

Nice expos Grasshopper, I always knew the force was dark with this one... -- "You must conceal all the crimes of your brother Masons... and should you be summoned as a witness against a brother Mason be always sure to shield him. It may be perjury to do this, it is true, but you're keeping your obligations." Ronayne, "Handbook of Masonry" p. 183
