From: milivella on 15 Mar 2010 09:14 Reply if you want to play the following game: - The contenders will play a league. - For each match between two contenders, I'll draw a random set of 20 football players from all over the world. - The two contenders take turns, each time picking one player from the set. - When the two 10-men teams are complete, each contender put his player in a 4-2-3-1 formation. - The best team (considering not only the quality of each player, but the fitness of each player in the assigned position and the overall balance as well) will win. As you see, each turn takes a couple of seconds to play. And you can take a week or a month to pick your player. So don't reply "I have no time, I can't assure a constant commitment" (indeed, if you have no time and you can't assure constant commitment, this game is for you!). But be warned that it could pass a lot of time before the league is over. --- Meta-game (not hard): find why the series of games that this one hopefully opens is named after the Ahwaz Airport. -- Cheers milivella

I could only find out that this airport is in Tehran. But count me in for the game! Tchau! Jesus Petry

DUH! Not Tehran, but Awhaz, which is in Iran. I had read too fast. Tchau! Jesus Petry

I don't know whether I'll have enough spare time able to answer all the eventual questions, but I can answer this. :) I'll use Football Manager data (there is a number representing the value of each player playing in each position). I'll ask the contenders not to check them, but note that you could do it and still not win the match (I guess that there is enough tactical depth to prevent sure wins for nonthinking cheaters - indeed I've thought of a variant where these data are public -). > > Meta-game (not hard): find why the series of games that this one > > hopefully opens is named after the Ahwaz Airport. > > I could only find out that this airport is in Tehran. Can't you find any other > information about this airport? ;) There was an accident there in 2009, no fatalities. Something about the pilots essentially flying blind because visibility is so low due to desert gusts? Anyway, sign me up. D |
