It's just this: if Milito is 2nd in the goalscorer table and Inter is 1st in the (point) table, then Milito's average position is 1.5. Does such a method work in the context of a very short tournament like the World Cup? You decide: 2006: 1. Zidane (Golden Ball), Klose, Henry [Pirlo (Bronze Ball) out of the ranking. Cannavaro (Silver Ball) is a defender] 2002: 1. Ronaldo (SB) 2. Rivaldo 3. Klose [Kahn (GB) was a keeper, Hong Myung-Bo (BB) a defender] 1998: 1. Suker (SB) 2. Ronaldo (GB) 3. Batistuta, Vieri [Thuram (BB) not in the top 4] 1994: 1. Romario (GB) 2. Baggio (SB), Stoitchkov (BB) 1990: 1. Schillaci (GB), Matthäus (SB) 2. Skuhravy, Lineker [Maradona (BB) not in the ranking] 1986: 1. Maradona (GB) 2. Lineker, Valdano [Elkjær-Larsen (BB) not in the top 6. Schumacher (SB) was a keeper] 1982: 1. Rossi (GB) 2. Rummenigge (BB) 3. Boniek [6. Falcao (SB)] 1978: 1. Kempes (GB) 2. Rensenbrink 3. Luque [5. Dirceu (BB) 8. Rossi (SB). Awards given retrospectively] -- Cheers milivella
