Uruguay x Germany, Uruguay x Spain, Netherlands x Germany, or Netherlands x Spain: what's not to like here? In today's match, I was really torn. Emotionally, I was leaning towards Uruguay. Rationally, I had some reasons to want the Netherlands to win. So I just decided to forget about it and watch a great game. I wasn't disappointed. In fact, I'm thoroughly enjoying this fantastic World Cup (it's a pity I couldn't get to watch more games). Abraço, Luiz Mello

I've never lost any love for Uruguay from their cheating, diving, chopping days of not very distant past so I didn't have any conflict rooting for the Dutch. I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon to shower praises on what great World Cup they had either. I'm just glad they are out of the final. (And yes, I'm still bitter about Lugano)

I don't think Uruguay cheated their way to the semifinals, nor was I suggesting that they should cheat their way past the Dutch. So, I'm not sure what you mean with "again". > Are you quite > mad, sir, or do you just enjoy chaos? Chalk it up to madness if you will, but I really enjoyed watching Uruguay in this World Cup. Never had any hopes they'd leave the group stage, but here they are. I liked their attitude overall, and would have liked to see it further rewarded. But the Dutch won, and they've earned it, so that's that. And, since you asked, I do enjoy chaos, in the mathematical sense. Makes for some interesting reading and some really nice fractal pictures as a bonus. And in the football sense, if "chaos" means a team like Uruguay punching above its perceived weight and making it far (and in the way they did it), I'm all for it. -- Llo |
