For those of you who do not know it yet a few days ago Germany beat
Russia in Moscow 1-0, an interesting game from what i remember of it
with Boaetng getting his first call up and Adler and Ozil getting
their sixth and fifth call up.

Aufstellung:

-Anyukov,(3),V. Berezutskiy(3),Ignashevich(4,5),Zhirkov(3,5)
-Denisov(3,5) -Bystrov(2),Zyryanov(2,5),Semshov(3)
-Arshavin(1,5)
-Kerzhakov(3)

Einwechslungen:
46.Torbinskiy(2,5)für Denisov
54.Pavlyuchenko(4)für Kerzhakov
77.Pogrebnyakf ür Semshov

Deutschland
Aufstellung:
R. Adler(1)-
J. Boateng(5),Mertesacker(3),Westermann(3,5),Lahm(2)
-Ballack(2) ,Rolfes(3,5)-Schweinsteiger(2,5),Özil(2,5),Podolski(3,5)
-Klose(2)

Einwechslungen:
72.A. FriedrichfürÖzil
86.TrochowskifürPodolski
89.GomezfürKlose

The number in brackets is the kicker rating for the game. What sticks
out for me is the 5 for Boateng ( 1 to 5 rating. 1 highest 5 lowest).
I thought he played reasonably well and the red card which I think was
due to a second yellow looked to me as if he got the ball first and
the Russian player then hit his legs? For those of you that watched
the game what do you think?
I like Boateng and I hope this is not the end of his international
career. I am going to sound biased again but i though the Germans
played better than the Russians on the rubber grass. i play on this
stuff most of the year from October to May and sometimes in the
summer. And though it is a good surface compared to astro turf or wood
floors I think it should not be used, still too much potential for
injury.
Arne Friedrich still gets called up even though he clearly fouled a
Russian player in a place of no danger, I assume the call was not made
because the ball was going out of bounds anyway, but I hope the game
against Finland today is his final game. Much better players than Arne
now.

Adler gets a one which is a bit generous but deserved, I though he
made a couple of key saves.
Mertesaker played OK even if he got out jumped by Arshavin once and
seemed to be falling down too much.
Westermann is better attacking than defending, I like attacking
players and i like Wetermann as well but he can sometimes be a
defensive liability.
Good game for Lahm

Ballack played a good game though nothing special
Ozil played well and showed some good creativity (something that
Ballck misses)
Schweinsteiger played well almost scored but for a great block early
in the game by a Russian defender
Rolfes did not play that well in my opinion, he was prone to making
poor passing decisions like passing to a player that was covered by
two opponents.

Podolski ran hard and played well
Klose scored and seemed to be playing very deep most of the game, also
worked hard, in fact both forwards did a lot of running back I thought.

Actually, it's a 1 to 6 rating with 6 the lowest.

Should have been a penalty nevertheless.

Ciao,

Deserved red card; he hit the player. But a 5 is a bit too harsh.

He did have a good match, and I think his two cards were his only fouls.
However, both were clear cut bookings. The referee had little choice.
Kicker always give bad notes to sent-off players (and good notes to goal
scorers).

I thought zil was man-of-the-match.
