I'd have Crouch and Defoe on before Heskey any day of the week, what point
are you trying to make?

As it happens, Heskey did an okay job in the first half but the players
around him were lerks.

I've never been a fan of Heskey, I've never really understood what he brings
to a team apart from "creating space". He worked hard at times I admit, got
back to defend and so on, and by all accounts he's a nice bloke but I just
can't think of an argument to keep him in.

I thought Barry started really well but disappeared after about 20 minutes.
Must have fallen into the hole that Lampard goes down every game. We
seriously need to drop one or two of our midfielders instead of trying to
force them to play together in all kinds of wanky positions and swapping
them around as the match goes on.

How about Stevie G and his complete inability to pass or shoot accurately?
Ditto Lampard? Ditto the laughable Barry?

It's all very well blaming the "obvious" culprit as indeed people were
wont to do when Heskey played for Liverpool but for my money the malaise
goes a hell of a lot deeper than the flaws of one man.

England were technically inferior in every possible way and in every area
of the field tonight. First time control? Abysmal. Positional sense?
Laughable. Passing? Beyond a joke. Shooting? All over the place. Attitude?
Arrogant without good reason. Movement off the ball? Non-existent.

Truly a dire and inept performance by vastly overrated players who think
they are superstars just because most of the time they put in a good show
against the likes of Portsmouth, Wigan, Sunderland, Hull and Wolves.

I'd hazard a guess what England need is to go back to street football but
that would be just too far beneath these big-headed overpaid arrogant
fuckers. What England need is more results like this. A good ten years of
these results and we will never, ever, ever again have to put up with
players, media and pundits telling us England are special. They're not.
They've just been outsmarted by Algeria. That should tell you all you need
to know about the barren state of your national team.

Believe me, there's no hope for English football while the imperialist
mindset remains. But at least it's a good start appointing a Catholic as
manager. Another decade of the same and you might finally be able to
measure yourselves against the best in the world - Brazil (Catholic),
Argentina (Catholic), Germany (Catholic), Italy (Catholic), Spain
(Catholic), Algeria (Muslim), etc. But I wouldn't count on it. Shedding
the post-Reformation imperialist mindset is gonna take a lot more than
that.

Do you reckon it's better to be in the World Cup and not lose your first two
games, or not get there at all?

I know what I'd prefer.

If my country were in the world cup and played the way England did tonight
I'd pass the hat around my local tomorrow to pay for their flight home

Even I was embarrassed by England and I don't support them.

The whole world must be in shock as we speak.
