Notice that he didn't pick any EPL-based players, either? Persons' choices are often based on the leagues they are familiar with. I never choose Italian players in these votes unless I see them with MIlan or Inter in the CL and on the NT because I don't see much of Serie A. Some people just don't watch that much of the BL. Even though it may not be not be an inclusive way of voting, it is a lot more honest than writing down "Lahm" just because you see others doing it.

But, I think all four of my midfielder choices have had great years--in completely different ways and under very different circumstances. And, I think the Donovan goal against Algeria was the goal of the year--from the save by Howard, his perfect pass, Donovan's perfect pass to Altidore, Jozy's perfect center to Dempsey, the Bolhi point-blank save from Dempsey and the Donovan follow-up. It still gives me one of those Chris Matthews thingy's up and down my leg everytime I think about it.
