From: Jim Goloboy on 25 May 2010 19:46 Most of the top US players are getting the night off. I don't see the logic in fielding a full B team. USA: Guzan; Cherundolo, Goodson, Onyewu, Bornstein; Holden, Torres, Edu, Beasley; Johnson, Buddle Subs: Hahnemann, Spector, Marshall, Pearce, Bedoya, Rogers, Clark, Kljestan, Gomez, Ching, Findley. Czechs: Cech, Kusnir, Rajok, Sivok, Sionko, Polak, Pudil, Plasil, Fenin, Hubschman, Lafata. Bench: Danek, Lastuvka, Cerny, Nevid, Pekhart, Holek, Skacel, Limbersky, Moravek, Cerny.
From: Jim Goloboy on 25 May 2010 20:24 20' USA 1-0 Czech Republic [Edu 17] Cech fails to collect Holden's inswinging free kick, the ball bounces off Buddle and Edu beats the Czech defenders to touch it into the net. USA slightly better so far, passing the ball through midfield well but not linking up in the Czech half. Quite a few of my English friends are becoming more and more nervous as June 12th approaches... knowing as they do that the gap continues to close and that it's really just a matter of time. I don't think that the time is now, but I do expect to see a USA WC victory in my lifetime.

The Czechs are a shadow of their former selves, no Koller, Baros, Nedved, Rosicky, Poborsky for one reason or another and they look absolutely shot!!! Though as I say that, they should have scored, with a cut back, placed on the penalty spot rewarding the bursting run of a midfielder who duly took a good low shot that beat the keeper, and WIDE of the post and out for a goal kick, poor miss!!!

Keep hope alive, I'm getting nervous myself, in the event Australia make it out of the group, we are most likely going to play the USA or the English, and at the moment, your "B" team would be a tough encounter for us!!! The Scrutineer, keeping a close but keen eye on the USA!!! Dangerous opposition indeed!!! |
