It s part the Domenech tactics. A sort win vs Costa Rica, a tie vs
Tunisia, a good defeat vs China. Then crawling miserably to the second
round with 2D, 1W even with 1D, 1L, 1W, then increase in 1/8 and 1/4
with 2 1-0 win, a miracle in 1/2 with a PK win after extra time and
the cherry on the cake, the final where C.Ron headbutts Gourcuff, and
we win 1-0 vs Portugal .

:-) You were probably joking, but it's truer than many realize.
France's problem is to get through the group stage. After that their
uber timid style can annoy and upset anyone. Anyone still rememer
France - Spain in '06?

Yeah, but what happens if Portugal fail to reach the Final? What if
it's Argentina, and Ribery stomps on Mascherano (for lack of Lisandro)?
Buh-bye WC then!

Could be, although I still had a tiny doubt if Given actually made
Anelka fall.

But the hand of Henry was blatantly politically incorrect, whereas the
penalty by Given, not called, was kind of part of the game. A sort of
common mistake by the ref.

The ref not calling the pk is another issue entirely. I am only talking
about the hollier-than-thou attitude of some Irish who had the gall to ask
for a replay when the Irish team cheated first, and the outrageous
witch-hunt against Henry and the French in a media that didn't even bother
to do it's job (note that I am being nice in assuming that it wasn't
deliberate manipulation of the public), and the sheepish fans who gobble-up
everything that is spoon fed to them. BTW, what was Henry suposed to do?
bend over, grab his ankles and take it like a man?
