While we are not forgetting: The Allies broke up into "the West" and the USSR, and began the Cold War each side taking whatever technological advantage that they could gain, including scientists who had worked for the Nazis. These scientists had not committed war crimes that we know of, but their loyalties were definitely suspect. The Catholic church helped Nazi war criminals hide after the war, and their only "skill" was being evil. The Catholic church has admitted receiving the stolen gold; they just refuse to return it.

No, just the Papacy, and the College of Cardinals, and many other members of the Catholic clergy. Most Catholics would have been appalled by what their church was doing in secret.
