From: Diablos Rojos on 8 Jun 2010 11:16 from manutd.com Nani has left Portugal's World Cup squad due to a shoulder injury. The flying winger, who enjoyed a dazzling second half of the club season with United, suffered the blow during training late last week. After tests, the Portuguese Football Federation have called up Benfica's Ruben Amorim as a replacement, and United will now take over his rehabilitation process. "Following the injury to the left clavicle suffered by Nani, a daily assessment of the damage and the completion of medical tests, we have concluded he is unable to be competitive," read a statement. "The medical file will now be presented to the medical department of Manchester United." Nani is the second United player to be hit by injury after being selected for the tournament, following Rio Ferdinand's withdrawal from the England squad with knee damage. I'm not one of these that goes in for at least he'll get a rest, the lads young that really shouldn't matter. A good world cup for him would have done wonders for his confidence.
