Felipe Melo. He is of course the worst player ever to have worn a Juve
shirt, so maybe there was some justification for not picking him.

But how about players we picked that missed the cut? Pato, Thiago
Neves...

I guess that today it's painfully clear for you!

:D Not sure that they belong in the same breath...

A bit serious: according to Castrol
http://www.castrolfootball.com/rankings/rankings/?team=&comp=&nation=11&position=&search=&offset=0&jump=1
in the last 12 months the best Brazilian players among the picked ones
have been Marcelo (the only really scandalous omission by Dunga!),
Pato and Denilson.

According to FTBL
http://www.ftbl.com/Players/Stats.aspx?playerId=495
(column on the right)
the most in form players are Marcelo, Michel Bastos, Fernando, Thiago
Motta and Pato (all in the ideal FTBL's 23-man Brazilian squad).

(as usual, I could have missed someone!)

Hmm.... I guess you're right. It's the 2003 Gold Cup, to which Brazil
sent a U-23 team. Wikipedia doesn't count those matches as full
internationals, even though it probably should.

Indeed I didn't know. Silly me for believing that once you've launched
a game with a given set of rules, you stick to those rules
throughout.... ;-)

I was very close to pulling the trigger on Pazzini after his first
call-up, but then decided against it. If I had known of the deluge of
scouts joining the game after the Gazzetta article, I probably would
have picked him.

You could just pick names out of a hat with Brazil and you'd still
have a good team,
