Forty years slopping out - the choice was a no brainer...

As was Gazza.

Gascoigne has since been sent for a medical check-up amid fears for
his mental state.

Gazza, 43, revealed he and John Paul II used to chat on the phone.

‘His bodyguard was my bodyguard at one point. The Pope rang me up
wanting to speak to me,’ the former England and Lazio star told OK!
magazine.

‘It was him who got in touch with me first. But I didn’t like having
his number in my phone, in case someone stole my mobile.

‘It didn’t faze me. I just said, “Alreet Pope. How are you?” He
invited me to meet him. I missed him but my mam and dad saw him.’

Gascoigne, who was recently badly hurt as a passenger in a car crash,
also told how he has Simon Cowell and Sir Elton John’s numbers stored
in his mobile. He also counts Robbie Williams, Liz Hurley, Rod Stewart
and Phil Collins among his friends, and reckons Cheryl Cole used to
fancy him.

‘Phil Collins is another good friend of mine. Rod Stewart, they are
all good friends. At the end of the day, I’m just a Dunston laddie,’
he said.

Asked about fellow Geordie Cheryl Cole, Gazza said: ‘She’s absolutely
fantastic. I think she had the hots for me. It’s changed now and I
have the hots for her, everyone does.’

Oh, do you think so? I think they are bound to be approached by the
tabloids for their story (in exchange for loads of dosh) and only then will
they "demand answers" and put on a show of grief and regret.

I was wondering from the start whether or not he actually knew Moat.
Now I know.

I though the brother was a real fake, and he came across as a right
knobhead.
Imagine saying, " Well of course, we hadn't seen or contacted each other in
years, people lose touch, what with university and jobs and everything"
He's your BROTHER for fucks sake!
What kind of excuse is that for not bothering to get in touch for years?
I can fully understand why Moat thought that his brother didn't care about
him at all.
Now, I suppose , like you say, it's time for him to cash in on all of the
publicity.
I heard Mel Gibson has just bought the movie rights. ;-)
