I thought we should have bought him last year instead of Barry, who we
didn't need and has been on the decline for the last 18 months. Milner
could be the next Lampard/Gerrard in the middle of the park, and we
sorely lacked that type of player last season with Ireland being off
form, injured, disinterested or sadly overlooked depending on your
view. As all our academy prospects seem to lose their way it seems we
are reduced to having to buy young players from other clubs, like Adam
Johnson, who looks like a great investment so far.

I agree with you on Barry/Milner.

I'd buy him and see if it inspires Ireland, and if it doesn't we've got
someone who can play in that position and we can say goodbye to Ireland.

The price is always going to be daft because it's City that are buying
and we need a player in that position, we just need to be able to say no
if it gets too daft.

Chas, for once a minority of 2. Ireland hasn't become a bad player
overnight, he just hasn't had the run in his position.

Why hasn't he become a bad player overnight? after all he became a good
player overnight, season b4 when Sunderland wanted him he could have gone
and no-one would have batted an eyelid coz he was pants! then he became a
decent player, then as if by magic he returned to being pants again

Well if he can become a good player overnight, and then a bad player
overnight, he can become a good player overnight again. He just needs
managing properly.
