The media is writing about Torres as if he's basically a Chelsea
player. It's the oddest thing, and seems like they're cheerleading
for it. Even Masch, who UNAPOLOGETICALLY WANTS to go is not being
written about as if he's already an Interista.

If Torres returns from this injury at less than 100% and reinjures it
soon, I fear that he'll be done.

Yeah well Mascherano has already blown Liverpool out, so where's the fun in
writing about that??? Much better to fill the back pages with speculation
about Torres!! The same sort of stuff is being written about Ashley Cole,
Robihno and others, maybe we don't take as much notice when they're not our
players.

Maybe Torres is just a laid-back kind of bloke, but I can't get rid of the
feeling that his heart was/is never in it for us. A month ago I'd have liked
to see him give it another season with us, but now he's picked up yet
another injury, I reckon if Chelsea offer anything sensible, we should let
him go. He's probably got a no-Euro-football-escape-clause anyway, he's
crocked and hasn't exactly committed himself to a Liverpool future, so let's
pick up some serious dough for him while someone is still interested in
buying him.

hes one of the greatest strikers in the world - madness to let him go.
Appreciate we need him fit, though.
I don't get you mental - I do now believe the media control your
thoughts and opinions !!

The reasoning seems sound enough to me. You cannot ignore this
concern about his continued list of injuries, particularly when he
got the last one in a situation where he was hardly extending
himself. He is very good, at his best, but worth exactly the same as
me to his side when crocked, and there are serious grounds for
thinking that this might be happening a bit too often?

Much would depend on how much cash the new manager would
get if Torres was sold for big money. Far better to keep him if the
cash was mainly used for debts, but tempting if a large lump of it was
going to the managers buying fund. He is pretty good at buying
wisely and an extra 10 or 15m would help him towards one of
his main priorities, which is strengthening the bench with some
decent options.

I haven't read a story anywhere that says we *should* sell him. I have my
own mind, ta. I appreciate it doesn't usually tally with your opinion or
Tompkins' opinion, but that doesn't make me wrong. Since you're getting
personal again, I'd suggest that Paul the octopus would have got it right
more than you & Tompkins last season, and he only has a 50/50 chance.
