Man U has had a bit of a transformation since the days of thugs like Keane and Cantona ( yes ) to the point where today I can watch them play their often entertaining brand of football without disliking them ( same cannot be said for their supporters ). Brasil has always been up there, one just needs to see the kind of support they enjoy everywhere, amongst all kind of people.

Great brand of football (Maradona 86), but also cynical when they need to be (WC 90) and never far from controversy (Maradona again, the brawl at the end of the quarter final with Germany in 2006). But then I used to cheer for Million Dollar Man and Honky Tonk Man in the WWF, so...... Brazil, yep, go to pretty much any country other than Argentina at World Cup time and you'll likely see more than your fair share of Brazil shirts. A team that is loved universally for their care free brand of attacking football. I will cheer them under certain circumstances but I do think they get away with murder sometimes, being seen as the baby faces to Argentina's heels just because of their attacking football, when they have dirty players of their own, particularly in terms of diving or feigning injury (casepoint Rivaldo getting Hakan Unsal sent off in the 2002 World Cup). I guess your attitude to the above two depends if you're a ying or a yang man? Or a Ric Flair or Hulk Hogan man? Manchester United are quite a different kettle of fish altogether, the one choice I would say you have got dramatically wrong. Other than their own fans, they are only "loved" by people ignorant to the damage they cause and they way they've stifled the Premiership over the past 15 years, usually people in emerging soccer "markets" who haven't got to grips with the politics of the game yet (no disrespect to those people -we were all at that stage once). I would actually go as far as saying Manchester United are positively despised by fans who are clued about the way the game works. Oh, well, two out of three ain't bad, to borrow a song title. RM
