From: Bruce D. Scott on 20 Jun 2010 15:20 A reasoned Italian voice with a finite sense of perspective. Ale is here but is getting drowned out. Daniele too. Consider the scope of Italian "football" and you see why they are so hard to find. Mike

Oh rubbish... Italian football played well is lethal and clinical, and it is mostly when people lose to it that they complain :-) I've seen players like Pippo Inzaghi bury us in our stadium often enough. I have a lot of respect for that little guy... Another one is Gattuso, never say die, never ever. And not dirty either. Always an honorable opponent. -- ciao, Bruce drift wave turbulence: http://www.rzg.mpg.de/~bds/

My sense of perspective: this is the worst Italian team ever, and I've been saying this since well before the WC began. My expectations are so low that I didn't even get particularly upset at yesterday's result. As for the flame wars, I'm happy to stay out of them. D

Fair enough. they may still pick it up but as you and Benny have been reporting they are missing several elements. The main force seems to be that guy who hit the post and the shot that was heroically saved today. But the Gattuso and Totti/Pirlo types are missing (I guess Pirlo is there but as good as absent these days). -- ciao, Bruce drift wave turbulence: http://www.rzg.mpg.de/~bds/
