A slow start to the tournament this may have been, but UEFA teams have this weekend taken out COMNEBOL's biggest giants - and in Germany's case, in convincing fashion. What a weekend to be a fan of a UEFA nation! Yes, Germany and Holland did it for themselves, for their nations, but we all know that somewhere at the back of their minds, they were also driven by a determination to prove the people who criticised UEFA wrong - oh and how wrong they were! Holland and Germany did it for us all, all us European / UEFA people can walk with pride this weekend. These weren't just victories for German and Dutch people, they were victories for the child from San Marino who dreams of playing for AC Milan......they were victories for the Albanian youth team player who loses sleep thinking about representing his nation at the European Championships........they were victories for all of us who support a UEFA nation. UEFA - the confederation dreams are made of! (I still want a Uruguay - Paraguay final, though........) RM

Recently I had been thinking they would take a qualifying spot away from europe based on the poor performance up until late...can shelve that idea.
