FIFA.com mentioned an interesting point: this would be a first time in
which both finalists of the previous World Cup drop out in the first
stage. This would include even the years in which the previous runners-
up did not qualify.

Euro need Italy to qualify. They'll provide useful confidence booster
to the Dutch -- Europe's best hope to stop Brazil.

Eh?

In 1934, Uruguay chose not to participate, while Argentina lost in
the first round (the otofinal) to Sweden, score 3-2.

In 1950, Hungary did not qualify, and Italy went out in the first group
stage to ...Sweden (3-2 to Sweden).

In 1966, Czechoslovakia didn't qualify, Brazil went out in the group
stage. But this times the Swedes disguised themselves in red and green,
and called themselves "Portugal".

FIFA.com should ask rss before making such claims :-)

This Italy, impossible...
NOTHING works in a decent way...
