I was under the impression that Miniger and "Devine or Decline" were real and the World Cup is in fact some fantasy that we had all dreamt up from rss's collective subconscious. I mean, seriously, you don't really think in real life they'd give a World Cup to South Africa, do you? North Korea and New Zealand at a major finals? England actually quite matter of factly being considered amongst the favourites to win - not just amongst the British tabloid press? Come on people, it's time to be honest with one another. We dreamt up this "World Cup" to make ourselves feel better about our every day existence. This is nothing more than pure escapism. Furthermore, we've even dreamt up an entire history of "World Cups" going back to 1930 to somehow justify the imaginary universe we have created. Beckenbauer, Pele, Maradona - are these people even real or figments of our imagination? In real life could Maradona *really* have scored that goal against England at "Mexico 86"? Enjoy the dream, people. RM

Even the Northkoreans reaching quarters after defeating Italy and putting in serious trouble Eusebio's Portugal 3-0 after ten minutes to lose 3-5 afterwards. The Kiwis being in Spain 82, as far as I remember. And Capello's England (strange how it reads, doesn't it) is favourite because he wins tournaments with the super-ultra-defensive-orderly- tactical-cattenaccio he imposes in his teams. LIBERTAD, LIBERTAD, LIBERTAD!!! But you're right in everything else. hahaha Juan Vazquez |
