I have lost count of the number of times that Benny plonked me. I am not sure whether he regularly unplonks me because he is worried of what I may say or because he gets satisfaction out of announcing that he plonked me ;)

Then do. It's a team game, not a collection of individuals competing individually. You need the fillers to be the fluid for the engine to move, blah blah blah... The correct question is why doesn't England have someone better than Heskey to fill that role, not why he gets to play instead of Darren Bent. You do understand that the role Bent played at Sunderland is different to the role Heskey is given with England, yes? Bent plays point man, he get the ball played in front of him to chase. As well as he's done for Charlton and Sunderland, he hasn't been very good at higher level (dude was a flop at Spurs, FFS), so to tweak the game plan around his questionable ability is sheer lunacy. Agbonlahor is a similar player, only better, but not at the level England can win building their game around him, and his form hasn't been very good recently. England's edge is in the shooting of Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard. For that they need second balls and a sight of the goal (meaning a decoy), they also need a real anchor, as Gerrard and Lampard wil surge forward during attacks and someone who doesn't mind doing donkey works -- pressing up front to buy time for Gerrard/Lampard to retreat. If England had a decent poacher, I could understand the grumbling, but they don't.

Just because you're "big and strong" or you "work hard" doesn't mean you're the most awesomest striker around. > The correct question is why doesn't England have someone better than > Heskey to fill that role, not why he gets to play instead of Darren > Bent.
