he wanted to ensure the Vuvuzela was banned at the 2012 Olympics!

And in what way would this be a bad thing.

If there's one thing that has more or less ensured that there will be no
further major sporting events in South Africa for a considerable time it
has been the Vuvuzela

Large numbers of people have been switching off the football on TV for
just that reason.
