I switched over to watch German coverage at half-time and see what Günter Netzer had to say rather than listen to the predictable stuff ITV would have. He is usually quite pithy, and I don't always agree with him, but he said that the tradition of top-class goalies which he said was always one of England's strengths appears to be over. It has been our Achilles heel for some years now and looks set to continue as those goalies who might do the business are unable to play because they are kept out of first teams by foreigners like, er, Tim Howard :-( Could have been worse I suppose.
