As a midfielder, he can run and pass adequately, good engine, good
size, hard worker -- but he was born 10 years too late into the world
of specialists.

Good work ethic, yes, but he's no Kuyt or Park. I still maintain that
he belongs nowhere near the starting lineup, unless there's mass
outbreak of dysentery in the team.

You exaggerated :-)

Who do Liverpool currently have can play in his position? (Assuming
we're talking 4-2-3-1, I still don't know what Hodgson is cooking)

You last statement kind of answers your question. We came to love and
trust the 4-2-3-1 because it brought us to within 4 points of the
title, but that was with the best deep holding midfielder in the world
in the team. Hodgson needs to work the same magic he worked
at...uh....Vikings and Xanax and UAE and figure out what works best
for this squad.

What makes you think he had a choice? How many clubs do you think would
be willing to spend big on a cripple, on a player who is already
finished at 26? Not Real Madrid and not Manchester City.
