Between inevitable injury problems, lacks of adequate personnel in
required position, and general incompetence, I hope you invested
heavily in a cleaning kit.

He's not a bad player. The role he was asked to play though is perhaps
counterintuitive to the player he is. It's a thankless job especially
when compared to fans' favorite Alonso. Leiva is good fundamentally,
decent to more than decent passing, tackling wasn't his forte when he
first started but he's improved, his shooting can be worked on -- a
lot. What he can't do is that he can't be another Alonso -- turning
buying time and finding outle while under pressure into an art form --
which requires a person with extraordinary awareness. If you watch
Alonso, even when he doesn't have the ball, he consistently glances
left and right to compute the situation. Leiva is not really that
type, not for lack of trying.
