From: Real Mardin on 29 Jun 2010 15:36 Let's be honest - whether it be due to one sided games or teams playing too defensively, this has been one dull World Cup so far. The few surprises and moments of inspiration have been drowned out by far too many boring games. I mean, could I really have been the only person who turned over to the Sci-Fi Channel last night to watch the cinematic treat that was "Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus" instead of the one sided Brazil - Chile game? I mean, at least Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus is a more even contest! At least Portugal and Spain are doing what they can to save the tournament. Hopefully things will pick up from the quarter finals onward. RM

And now they'll have the sequel -- with the Grudge Match of the Decade. (Too bad, for some, that "Decade" being three decades ago -- Deborah Gibson v. Tiffany.) Mike

I think that I would probably still enjoy more watching a 0-0 draw between two teams of the finnish Kakkonen third tier league than Mega Shark vs Octopus. And not sure I can agree with the supposed dullness of the current WC. Sure, it's not 1970 or 1986, but so far I am enjoying this WC more than most WCs since 1990.
From: Vanman on 30 Jun 2010 23:05 The tourny started off pretty awful..the first round of games was the worst in living memory...i don't think any tourny ever started so badly. Since the second series of games though things have improved substantially. Now of course there are always going to be some dull games in every WC, and we still have a ways to go..but right now I would say this is the best WC since 98' (not as good as that one though). That may not be saying much. "chris909" <chris909303(a)gmail.com> wrote in message news:ce1d0d09-1d98-4030-a6fc-fec3de2339a1(a)a30g2000yqn.googlegroups.com...
