Do they? From the team + bench that day, only Klose is in this game.

Not that there isn't a national feeling about that game, but it was,
as you say a WCQ and it didn't really impact Germany's progress into
the finals. Is there really such a strong desire for revenge for /that/
game?

More significantly, Schweini, Mueller, and Klose are out now...

I think for players who grew up in the Munich area there would have
been. Gomez donkey-kicking his chance away ended it for today though.

I maintain: 4-1 is a totally deserved result.

Engerlund is a one man team, and Rooney has been out of it. Gerrard and
Lampard are a shadow of their usual selves, Terry has been exactly his
usual self (pretty useless when not carried by Carvalho/Alex and the
Chelski midfield), Carra was too slow and Upson is not good enough. And
with fullbacks like Cole/Johnson, the CB pairing needs to be rock solid.

I should have seen this coming, but I had hope for the English team.

It's obvious to me, you can try to prove the reverse.

Well I had it wrong Schweini was still in to the end, and was playing
like he wanted the 5-1 (he is from Rosenheim, just down the road towards
Salzburg).

And so it ends!
