It is still possible for Brazil, Spain, England, Germany, Paraguay, Mexico, Argentina and the NL to end up on the same side of the draw. Ouch ! Portugal instead of Brazil doesn't really help much either. In fact, if the NL finishes behind eg. Denmark (unlikely but possible), Portugal should probably not try to win their match vs. Brazil as they could end up with a relatively good shot at making the final on that side of the bracket.

Jesus answered this and it's why I think the Portugal-Brazil clash is quite meaningful now.
