What an enthralling first half. I am totally serious. The North
Koreans are wonderful--and don't kid yourselves, whatever happens in
this match, Portugal and IC had better take them VERY seriously.
Brazil is showing more control of the ball than anyone. Their passes
actually reach their target. But they haven't found a way through the
defense, which is excellent, and NK could get a break. The ref was a
bit kind not to book a Brazilian for those tackles from behind to stop
breaks out of the NK half. NK was lucky that shot (can't remember
whose) bounced off their defender's head. It would surely have gone in
otherwise.

The North Koreans are going to be the crowd pleasers now as they
were in 1966.

Meanwhile, it occurred to me, watching, that England-US had more
drama than the rest of the week put together. Inevitable, I guess.

Worst Brazilian Team ever. And Argentina and Germany easily had better
control of the ball. Adjust your tv (or your eyes?)

If both of the next games are draws, the last game day will be
interesting.

It was assumed North Korea would receive 3/3 whoopings (IMO Honduras
are bigger candidates for heavy losses).......

Not so straightforward for Portugal or CIV now.

You are out of your mind. It's better than 1978, 1990, and probably
1994. They played very intelligently and unselfishly and Robinho,
although he didnt' score, had the best game I've ever seen him have.
They have beaten Argentina soundly and are more than capable of doing
the same to Germany.

FT 2-1 (Maicon 54', Elano 71' -- Nam 88')

Well, well... The recluses came to play!!

That can't be considered the most impressive of openers for the
Brazilians (probably taking it far too easy for their own good, as can
be their ilk!!), though they do get the three points with two second-
half goals from Maicon and Elano.

Fact is, they can be exploited (which see Nam getting one in the 88th
and there still being time for an equalizer, which never came -- which
see the USA in last year's Confed Cup Final first half). Yes, I
believe they are the best, and by a significant distance, but their
complacency can and will (if they're not careful) be their downfall.

Maicon's was another goalkeeper gaffe (one of quite a number in this
tournament), but this should've been a much more convincing victory
for the Brazilians if they want to be seen as the favorites they
should be.

But they do lead the group, with the only three-pointer. Ivory Coast
and Portugal have one each. The North Koreans made a statement, but
bring up the rear, as expected.
