Was there a reason other than 'non selection' that Brad was not in USA WC

He retired from international soccer about 20 years ago (actually,
closer to six years, no?) and now spends his summers drinking Earl
Grey, training his foxhounds, tending to his manor, and lobbying for
an appointment to the House of Lords.

He 'retired' from international play in 2005, apparently:

He announced his retirement in 2005, but IIRC only made one appearance
after the 2002 WC. Wanted to be named the #1 goalkeeper over Keller
and Arena wouldn't do it. Talks about it in his autobiography.
